What are dental implants?
Dental implants are small screw shaped teeth designed to replace the root of a tooth that cannot be saved by conventional means. Dental implants can range from single-tooth replacement to a complete upper and lower arch replacement. These replacements restore the physical appearance of teeth and enhance the chewing function of patients. This treatment is ideal as it does not affect adjacent teeth.
Dental implants require the same maintenance as natural teeth, including brushing, flossing and regular dental check ups.
All-on-4 dental implant procedure
Waverley Dental Implant Centre utilises the latest dental implant technology known as the all-on-4 technique which replaces one single tooth to an entire arch of bridgework. The all-on-4 technique is a unique procedure that can be more cost effective and quicker to perform than traditional dental implant procedures.
This is a surgical procedure that involves the placement of a titanium screw into the upper or lower jaw bone as a tooth replacement. Once the implant is successfully placed, a crown is used to cover it, therefore mimicking a real tooth. When there are multiple teeth missing, a dental implant can be used to anchor dentures or bridgework.
